DEVELOPMENT ALTERNATIVES GLOBAL – DAG
LEARNING, THINKING AND ACTING GLOBALLY
|

Proposed areas of work
Three closely interrelated areas of work are envisaged for DAG, namely:
1. the wider dissemination of local level initiatives, knowledge and experience of DA and similar bodies in developing countries, particularly with a view to promoting South-South cooperation and exchanges;
2. conceptual and policy-oriented analytical work, including linking the local and global and addressing larger, systemic questions;
3. analyzing and commenting on the work of international bodies concerned with different aspects of sustainable development, in particular that of the United Nations, the body designated by the international community to lead global action in dealing with these challenges.
DAG's policy analyses will draw on the skills of a network of internationally recognized scholars and public figures, including those who have been associated with the work of the UN and have valuable, first-hand experience in multilateral processes.
DAG will address and speak out on these issues and their interrelationships that often remain unexplored within a single institution. It will project a South perspective and will draw the attention of developing country governments, the Group of G77 and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to the results of its work. It will make widely available its policy and research papers and other outputs.
DAG's website will facilitate interaction with the proposed network of collaborators and correspondents and also the dissemination of its work. When appropriate, high-quality work will be published in print form. DAG also aims to develop media outreach, including through commentaries by distinguished analysts and personalities. A newsletter in e.format is also planned.
